Picked up van with Daniel. Interesting! He managed to miss the turn… so we came back a long way. The van training was pretty hard work - the guy reckons people actually take them from the airport!! That seems like hard work, coping with jetlag on top of that. Van drives pretty well, have to make sure cupboard doors are properly closed. Roger was very helpful.
With the van parked up, we went to Mount Eden with Daniel so Jen could see it too. More crowded than yesterday at 8!
From there we went downtown to the fish market, bought some interesting moonfish, a bit like pale tuna. The huge number and variety of fish was astounding.
Then went on to east via Hway 1, to swim in the Pacific. Stopped first at a beach in Orewa, amazing, lots of beachfront property there.
Then went on to a more secluded spot, quite magical, through trees, beach not very crowded, went swimming, much warmer than yesterday. Jen really enjoyed herself!
Took lots of pictures of oystercatchers, dotterels (a rare NZ bird), and gulls doing stupid "I'm a baby" act. Arse. Came back, had a lovely moonfish dinner. Lovely day! Thanks D. Sat for along time late, eating and talking.
